Geriatrics is a sub-specialty of internal medicine and family medicine that focuses on health care of elderly
people. It aims to promote health by preventing and treating diseases and disabilities in older adults. There is no set age in
which patients may be under the care of a geriatrician, or physician who specializes in the care of elderly people. Rather,
this decision is determined by the individual patient’s needs, and the availability of the specialist.

A Pediatrician is a physician who specializes in the health of children from birth to young adulthood. Our Pediatrician, Dr. Ubhrandi, is concerned with the physical, emotional, and social health of your child. Pediatricians provide services such as preventative health, the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic diseases. A developing child has biological, social, and environmental influences which could have an impact on the diseases and dysfunctions of development in which the Pediatrician treats.

Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants are mid level practitioners. A Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a registered nurse who has obtained further specialized education in diagnosing and managing common and complex medical conditions. They are licensed by the state in which they practice and most are also board certified.

A Physician Assistant (PA), is a graduate of a specialized program which lasts approximately 2-3 years. Most programs require at least 2 years of college and some health care experience. They are also licensed and certified.

Both types of Mid Level Practitioners work in collaboration with or under a physician’s supervision. Both physician assistants and nurse practitioners obtain medical histories and conduct physical examinations. They also diagnose and treat acute medical and chronic conditions such as infections, injuries, diabetes, and high blood pressure. They order and interpret diagnostic tests such as blood work, X-Rays, ultrasounds, or EKGs. They prescribe medications and other treatments such a physical therapy. The PA or NP can manage a patient’s overall care.
