About Dr. Adigweme

Dr. Ugo Adigweme, grew up in Jacksonville, FL and pursued his undergraduate education at the University of South Florida. He worked as a case manager in a Baker act facility and later on served a dual role as a math and science teacher /case manager in a Juvenile detention center for 4 years while in Tampa Florida. During those years he pursued his Masters degree in Molecular Medicine from the University of South Florida’s college of medicine. He then moved to Pennsylvania for his medical training, attending the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia.

Following medical school, Dr. Adigweme moved back to Florida and completed a podiatric medicine and surgery residency with a focus on reconstructive foot and ankle surgery at Westchester General Hospital in Miami. During his years there his leadership skills were recognized and he was eventually selected to be chief resident. During residency, he developed an interest in trauma and reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle. This interest led Dr. Adigweme to pursue an additional fellowship-training year in adult reconstructive surgery at Orthopedic center of Florida in Fort Myers, Florida where he was trained by orthopedic and podiatric surgeons within the Lee health care system.

Prior to joining CFP Physicians group, Dr. Adigweme worked with “The Foot and Ankle Centers of Charlotte county” as their foot and ankle specialist.

He has a proclivity for humanitarian work and has helped organize and participate in multiple mission trips to Haiti with the “YDA foundation” and the “Believers Women’s ministries” providing surgical and medical help to rural communities in Haiti. He also recently participated in the “Yucatan Crippled Children’s project” in Mexico with Dr. Charles Southerland where he and a team performed deformity correction surgeries on uninsured children in the region. He is an active member of many professional organizations, including the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, American Podiatric Medical Association, and the American Society of Podiatric Surgeons. He has authored numerous journal articles and textbook chapters on foot and ankle surgery and participated in scientific research symposiums. He would like to remain active in research as well as education and mentorship of students and residents throughout his career.

Dr. Adigweme is a double board qualified foot and ankle surgeon specializing in all aspects of podiatric medicine and foot and ankle surgery including, nonsurgical modalities, ankle arthroscopy, OCD repair, achilles tendon repair, treatment of arthritic conditions, ankle fusions, total ankle arthroplasty, flat foot correction, ligament repair, lateral and medial ankle instability, plantar fasciitis, bunion corrections, hammer toe corrections, minimally-invasive bunion correction, tarsal tunnel release, neuroma treatment, fusions of the forefoot, midfoot and rearfoot, foot ankle trauma and fracture care, complex revision surgery, ingrown nails and wound care. Dr. Adigweme enjoys working with patients of all ages to improve their ambulation, function and restore their quality of life.

Dr. Adigweme has a sister and a twin brother who are also physicians. His twin brother is an orthopedic surgeon in the Orlando territory and his sister is an internal medicine doctor in Atlanta, Georgia. He enjoys, running, working out, playing basketball, listening to music, watching the NBA and Jacksonville Jaguars, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends.
